Checked that Omni-Rig is running as Win XP-SP3 and with admin rights
saved all the configurations,
Confirmed that com port 3 is the communications port - as determined by connecting to HRD at 9600 baud
closed HRD, power cycle the ts-2000, restarted the computer,
started Log4OM - I can see Omni rig.exe running via task manager but I am not communicating with the rig.
I know it has to be my set up and I appreciate your help with my issue.
As to your other questions - Log4OM has never connect the CAT to the rig with this current setup.
Skype / Teamviewer is not loaded on this computer.
OK please post a screen shot of the Omnirig window
Could you put Skype on the Log4om computer and have a microphone and speakers (headset is best) connected - W e Don't require a webcam

Thanks again Terry,
A man of great patience. Skype loaded and confirmed working with a test/echo call. Skype name: jim_austin435
I don't know much about Skype but I should be able to place or receive a call.
Screen shot of Omni Rig settings as requested.

You must select a rig type, com port and baud rate then click OK for Omnirig to connect to your rig
With rig type set to none Omnirig does not know what to connect to
Just the same as HRD you had to select a rig for that to work didn't you?

Yep - that would help. I can't believe I could manage to get the logging to work with LoTW and miss the most obvious things during set up for Omni-Rig.
Changed the "none" to "Kenwood" - Cat connected!! - Can't tell you how humble this experience makes this ham feel.
Thanks a ton for your patience and your help...
