Re: After updating Log4OM 2.18 to 2.25 OmniRig is blocked (by Log4OM) for other applications

Perhaps it was and Log4om as Adminitrator, but probably not, because now I have a warning window when it starts up and it wasn't there before. But I didn't have to run other applications /running in parallel/ in Admin mode, and now I have to because if I don't, they can't access data from Omni-rig.

Nothing has changed in my configuration, but after updating, Log4OM, if it is started first, later running applications could not connect to Om.i-Rig. I changed all the launch mode (to Admin) and now they work. Also, as a notice, if I don't run Log4OM, all applications work with Omni-Rig without the need to run in Admin mode.

I'm just signaling that I didn't have to do it before and everything worked fine. Perhaps my previous installation gave Admin permissions to Log4OM (worked very well) and therefore the other programs did not require Adm permissions.

From my point of view, the problem is solved, but I couldn't figure it out, so I asked a question and got an answer instantly - Thanks.

PS.

To sum up - I did not need to update version 2.18 because it worked very well, now, apart from the problems that I have fortunately solved thanks to your help, I see three red bars "QRZCOM" in the "Stats F1" window, which I do not know how to turn off (I only use LoTW confirmations)

I run nothing in administrator mode, not Omnirig, not Log4OM, not bandmaster, not HDSDR, not antenna-switcher. yet they work all together flawlessly. Also with Log4OM 2.25 i have no issues.

I just don't understand why some people have issues and why it is resolved running everything as administrator. my system proofs that is not necessary, i only want to understand the issue.

Sorry for directly jelling poorly written that is just the tactful site of me. i still believe that running in administrator mode should be avoided. though i am not able to do this myself.

Again i just want to understand the issue as it is clearly not as simple as not running administrator is to blame.

I just wrote above that before I did not run anything in administrator mode, and now when I installed Log4OM with these permissions, problems began. And probably without these permissions - I didn't lose anything with Log4OM.

Have any of you ever considered that sometimes Windows Updates change security settings and levels which affect permissions, this is particularly prevalent with Windows 11.

Lele has explained why and believe me we dont suggest things without reason but clearly the user is always right, not the programmer that spent his whole life learning how to code software!

Thx Terry,
I have completely blocked updates in my W10, you're right, they can mess up a lot, I know something about it because I'm from IT (Cisco).
My current conclusion is that if you run Log4OM with administrator privileges, cooperating programs must be run as well. It's ok, my problem is SOLVED. and the topic can be closed.

Finally, I will ask if I can somehow disable the three (red) QRZCOM bars from the main Stats window (F1)? and is it possible to reduce the fonts in this window?
