for retreiving purpose you should use the station callsign field which is available in all LAYOUT windows configuration

Let me know if you're interested in knowing some helpful things controlling rig with remote CAT using hamlib and Log4OM
i managed to successfully work with a rig 600km away (i was not able to send voice, that is not related to CAT but to other voice transmission softwares like skype) but the response was pretty fast
