In the F9 screen the heading is always to the center of the country as defined in the Log4OM Country file and does not do any look-up from any internet source. The overhead would be unacceptable much less the server overloads and the server managers would howl.
As Terry said, only when you select a spot and tune your rig does it do a look-up which now shows the discrete heading in the SP/LP windows on the right side.
BTW: locators are not used for the headings, it uses the Lat/Lon of the station.
You don't need to know the heading until you select the spot in any case.
Lastly, HRD does not do as the user says for the same reasons as Log4OM.

yes I fully understand now that you will not get a accurate bearing until the spot is clicked , then you will have a accurate bearing on the smaller cluster. it was just confusing and a little misleading having the bearing on the F9 cluster .

I don't think it's misleading if you keep in mind that it's the bearing to the "entity" not the station.
