Installation suggestion

I've seen more than one post from confused users regarding whether you need to uninstall Log4OM before installing a new version (you do have to). I was just going to suggest, why not just have the install code check for any installations - uninstall Log4OM if installed - and then finish installing the current install. Wouldn't that eliminate confusion?

Hi OM,

in the newer versions Daniele has implemented a function in the installer that looks for a previous version. If found one a popup opens and telling the user that the previous version has to be uninstalled first and the installation routine stops ....

Think the "half automatted" way is better. So the user has the option to backing up his configuration folder or something like this. But only my 2 ct ;) ;)

If that's the way it works now then that's fine. I knew previous versions had to be uninstalled and would have done that myself, so I would not have seen any messages like that. Hopefully the members asking the question will be helped by that. 8-)

... and by reading this thread. :)

The problem is that some users ignore the warning to remove the old version and continue with the install, I would prefer that it was impossible to install without the old version having been removed or better still remove the old version automatically when installing the latest releases.
