QRZ.com XML lookup not working

I recently started using Log4om. Have not been able to get this lookup working. Yesterday, got a paid subscription to QRZ.com database, but the lookup still does not work. The User and Password fields are populated on the Settings 1 tab, and the API Key field is populated with the Automatic Upload box checked on the External Logs tab. Am I missing something? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Larry,

there is a difference between a qrz.com Ham Member or a XML User .... Have you filled in the Settings 1 Tab your XML subscriber password ??? If you´re a XML subscriber yout got an extra password to use the service and it´s different to the "Ham Member" password ... If you have filled in your xml subscriber password check for typos ..

;) ;)

Larry,
The user name and password for the QRZ lookup in the settings 1 tab are the same that you use to log into the QRZ website so providing that is entered correctly and in the correct case it should work. Please note that the least expensive QRZ subscription does not give you QRZ XML lookup facilities its the US$29.95 subscription that provides XML lookup

The API key is only used for automatic uploads to the QRZ logbook and has nothing to do with the QRZ database lookup facility, to check the API key is working log a QSO in Log4om and then go see if it appears in the QRZ online logbook

Hi Terry - thanks for your response. I refreshed the password, just to be safe, still no luck. I am expecting the locator and address to be populated from the QRZ database when I enter a callsign and tab to the next field. Is that how it is supposed to work?

Yes that information should be completed if you have the correct QRZ membership level

Have you checked that your user name is entered in the correct case?

Check the log - Help/show log, for errors after having done a lookup

If you enable DEBUG MODE in settings (3rd tab) the log will show also all data retrieved from external sources, as well as errors.
If you check here, and you have an xml enabled account, you should see the informations coming from QRZ.
If not, it's probably an issue on QRZ side, except for the case you see exceptions reported in log4om log.

Please make a try and send me a copy of your program log file [DON'T POST THE FILE ON THE FORUM BECAUSE COULD CONTAINS SENSITIVE DATA] :)

Thanks Daniele - I checked the log, and the password is the problem.

2014-09-19 09:29:48.2267 ERROR: *** QrzComManagement: Error in Logon ******* [Function: Logon] System.Exception: Password Incorrect

I am absolutely sure I used the same password I use to log in to QRZ.com. I will contact them to see if they can help. Thanks for your help!

The login to the qrz.com database worked fine, so I have sent you the error log in an email as you requested.

Hi Daniele - as I said in my email, Hi Daniele - yes, I had # and % in the password. Set a new password, and now everything works. Thanks for your prompt reply!

I'm now checking for special characters and how to deal with them in QRZ logon.
Probably a simple encoding could be ok
