Cannot connect to database ?

Just updated to Ver 1.19.0.0 on my mac running Vista in Virtual machine.
Went o File > Open Database, chose SQL file and clicked open ??? does not open the file ?
Thought i would be clever, copied SQL file to desktop, same results ?
Then copied SQL file to memory stick ? That works.... WHY !!
Copied SQL file back from memory stick, to its original folder, and that does not work.
I now have a portable copy on a stick, and 2 other machines running windows with it on.
But the Mac is my primary logging machine.
All the other settings match the other machines, as they were copied from this one.
HELP!!
