Overwriting contact

Hi,

This is not a big issue at all and I am only mentioning it as I would be interested in clarification as to what is going on.

I use JT Alert to pass logging information from WSJT-X to Log4OM. For reasons I won't bore anybody with, a QSO was logged with an incorrect Grid. I corrected the gird and logged the QSO again. JT Alert confirmed the QSO had been logged, but it did not appear in Log4OM. I was expecting to see two logged QSOs and then intended to delete the erroneous one. I got the correct QSO in Log4OM by deleting the incorrect QSO first.

What makes Log4OM decide whether to record a QSO or not?

It's not really Log4om making the decision, JTAlert is "Pushing" the data to Log4om and if JTAlert thinks it already sent the QSO it won't send it again.

Similarly Log4om will not log duplicate entries so it rejects a QSO if it has the identical

Call sign
Date
Start time
Band
Mode
Frequency

So just changing a locator for a QSO does not make it a new QSO if the data listed above is identical

Technically frequency is not a key.
So changing only frequency will not allow you to insert a dupe, on same BAND
