Hi,

I have followed the manual (page 159-163) to multiplex more applications to the same COM port; it basically works but I have a specific issue: WSJTX only works if no other application is connecting to the VSP COM; as soon as I start any other application accessing the same VSP, WSJT CAT stops working.

Did anyone else observe this ?

What programs are sharing the VSP and do they all work happily together?

the VSP software is etherlogic's VSPE, it's actually running unregistered since I have a 64bit system, but that does not seem to affect functionality. Obviosuly this may be the problem.

I just tested running at the same time:
- Ham radio deluxe directly to the splitted Vport (COM5)
- OmniRig to COM5
- Skimmer to Omnirig
- Log4OM to Omnirig

that works fine, see screenshot.
Double checking VSPE I see the applications using the port concurrently (see other screenshot)
So everything seems to work fine, problems with WSJT-X remains...

That's really weird because apart from HRD I am running the exact same set up plus JTAlert and Bandmaster and they all work fine together!

It could be worth writing to the author of WSJT to see if he knows why his program has this issue, or perhaps post to their Yahoo group?

Just one other thought have you tried any other VSP software?

I probably should complete the picture, the "physical" COM port that VSPE is referring to is actually a virtual COM created by Microham's Device Router software; I need that since the TRX is connected through a Microham's Station Master with its own RS232 connection that gets virtualized over the microham's USB connection to the PC. But by all means that port behaves just like a physical port for all other applications, so I don't think that's the issue.

WSJT-X is actually release v1.4.0-rc2 , my best bet is to go back to a released version, that will probably fix it, I keep you posted.

I thought that the Microham supported multiple connections to it's virtual port? Have you tried?

Probably WSJT does not like working with a VSP connected through another VSP (Microham) I never tried that.

Have you tried the Eterlogic connected direct to the physical port and therefore leaving the Microham out of circuit to see if you get the same issue?

the problem was in WSJT, I stepped back to v1.3, r3673 (last stable) and everything works fine now:
The Microham COM ports are *normally* not splitted, if the port is used by an application it is not available for others.

BUT: entering the "Set" menu in the microHam device router, and checking the "forward autoinformation to CAT port" tickers actually does enable splitting:
The "2nd" CAT port gets defined in the "Ports" Menu:

Enabling autoinformation to the additional CAT ports only enables 1 additional application to access it, so in total I can have 3 applications using the port; thanks to Omnirig multiplexing that's good enough for me.
