LOTW Fails to upload.

Post by M1BCM »

Almost a week ago, my uploads have failed every time, nothing in settings has changed and can still upload using TQSL and HRD, which tells me theres something wrong somewhere in Log4OM. Downloads still function as normal. Screenshot attached.

Can anyone help ?

This users problem was caused because he was not running log4OM with administrator privileges.

The software must always be installed with administrator privileges and full details of how to set up the Windows Administrator Privileges are in our user guide.

Terry, do you mean "install" as admin, or "Use" as admin?
I know how to change these settings but when LOG4OM is set with admin priv, it won't auto-start using JT-AlertX, a feature i'dlike to carry on using.

Question, how then does LOG4OM manage to upload everywhere else when not set as "Admin" ?

usually install as an administrator but once installed you can do it by following the user guide

As for JTAlert it works fine for me with Log4om using admin privileges so i suggest that you check with the JTAlert developer to see what requires changing in JTalert

I already checked with the JT-Alert programmer, he told me that LOG4OM won't autostart if admin priviledges are set for LOG4OM. So i removed admin for it and lo and behold, log4om would now autostart, but lotw uploads failed because admin had been taken off.

I installed Log4OM as admin. Constantly referring users to the user guide is'nt much help with respect, it kind of implies that all questioners are idiots who have'nt read the guide, there are new operators all the time and the guide may not make sense to some newbies. The help in the guide while good is still pretty basic. Having this forum i would assume is for getting answers not (fully) covered in the guide.

Respectfully

Why not do it the other way and auto start JTAlert from Log4om?

I am sorry that you find the user guide inadequate we refer to it to avoid having to continuously repeat the same information over and over again. Let me know what you need a fuller or more complete explanation of and I will be pleased to comply with your wishes.

I would never intentionally infer that anyone is an idiot and it upsets me that you would think that I did, hopefully other users will confirm that I generally deal with everyone with respect!

Mostly if a user finds problems with the user guide not being clear and concise, perhaps because of a lack of knowledge, they say that they don't understand the instructions and ask for further advice.

Hi Terry, i really meant no offence, i just noticed that a lot of the replies to various questions invariably point to the guide etc. Good idea about starting JT-Alert from within LOG4OM, i'll look into that.

Cheers
