Connecting Log4OM and FLDigi to Elecraft K2 using Omnirig

I wonder if there is a guide to configuring the above? I'm almost there but I can't get the K2 to go into Tx mode from Log4OM or FLDigi.

Log4OM is showing the frequency and mode OK and I can QSY from a cluster spot.
FLDigi is also showing the frequency and manually creating a log entry in FLDigi causes it to also appear in Log4OM.

However, when I click the PTT button in Log4OM or I click Tx in FLDigi, nothing happens.

Gareth,

First get Log4OM working with the K2 using Omnirig and then follow the instructions in the user guide page 186 >>> to set up the XML/RPC connection between Log4OM and FLDigi

I think the problem may be that I'm using a RigBlaster Pro as the interface. With the RigBlaster you have to use RTS to assert PTT, rather than relying on a CAT command. I had this problem with HRD as well, but with HRD you could choose how PTT was asserted.

I don't see an equivalent option in Log4OM. Omnirig has settings for RTS and DTR but they are static, rather than changing when PTT should be enabled.

Gareth,

Log4om sends the same TX command to Omnirig for every radio [pmTx] regardless!

Omnirig translates that standard command to the command required for the radio that has been selected.

e.g.

Log4om sends [pmTx] in every case to these radios and then Omnirig translates as follows:

Elecraft K2 the command Omnirig sends is TX;

Icom IC 7000 the command Omnirig sends is FEFE70E0.1C00.01.FD

Yaesu FT450 the command Omnirig sends is TX1;

So a couple of suggestions for you

1. Try connecting the K2 with an ordinary USB to Serial cable (No Rigblaster) if everything works OK then you have proved that your radio and Omnirig are working OK and you should consult West Mountain Radio for an answer

2. If 1 above proves a fail then contact Alex the author of Omnirig for assistance and advice

3. You might also try Hamlib for CAT control of the K2 from Log4om

I recall that the Rigblaster interfaces work differently to all others so I suspect it is something specific to the Rigblaster that Alex would have to advise on and possible re program for!

I got rid of my Rigblaster and also all of my Elecraft equipment some time ago so I cannot try to replicate your issues and I don't know of any of our users with a similar set up to you, there are however many K3 users and some, I am sure, will use a Rigblaster perhaps one of them can assist you?
