Sync problems with Fldigi

I am a new user of Log4OM and like what I see. I am using OmniRig to work with a Ten Tec Omni VII as well as HDSDR which is displaying a pan adapter. I wanted to get Fldigi coordinated into this mix, but have not had much success even following the manual pretty closely.
What I get is an indication that Fldigi is connected (green dots for connection to and from), but the inbound (to) dot soon changes to red. After a while, the outbound also changes to red. Fldigi never displays the frequency shown on the rig, the pan adapter, nor Log4OM, just whatever was there when it loaded. I do see log entries in Fldigi getting transferred into Log4OM, although with no signal report indicated.
Computer is an older PC running WinXP SP3. Any help appreciated.

Are you running Log4om as an administrator?
Are you using the RPC/XML protocol to integrate Fldigi?

Thanks for the quick reply. I am not sure about the "administrator" thing...I suspect so, though. I am the only user on this computer and haven't run into things I am not allowed to do before. I selected the RPC/XML rig control in Fldigi and all the other methods are not checked.

Vic
Have you set up the Log4OM communicator as detailed in the user guide and my YouTube video to work with FLDigi?

Yes. The program locked up a few times when I did it, but seemed to 'take" after a few tries. When I watched the incoming/outgoing Fldigi indicators they would start as all green on the communicator window, then one would go out. After a while the other would go out as well. As I said, frequency info was never transferred to Fldigi, but I do get the log info back into Log4OM from Fldigi.

Sounds like your not running Log4om as an administrator, check the section covering that in our user guide

I am running Windows XP and don't have an "Administrator" option in the program properties. The guide shows the properties as they appear for Windows 7.

Yes you do Vic, you just have not found them yet

. There are several ways to do it.
A quick internet search found "If you create a shortcut, in the shortcut properties dialogue there is a button called advanced which lets you run the program with different credentials".

Well that is interesting. Yes, I did find in the advanced options I could "run with different credentials" and then when I launched the program I could select "administrator". It will then ask for the password for the "administrator", which I have no idea about. I checked user accounts and there are only 2 currently: my standard is in there as the administrator already, with no password ("guest" is the other), so I am not sure what to do about that. I suppose I can create a password for my standard account...not sure that will help or just add another step to getting started, but I will check.
Running the RTTY contest this weekend I found it isn't a huge problem. Log entries in Fldigi are getting transferred to Log4OM OK, it is just that I have to manually set the Fldigi displayed frequency whenever I QSY to have that be accurate.

IIRC, when installing XP, one does get asked to supply a password. If you did not, then you should be able to progress without supplying one; i.e. keep password field blank.
As you have found, having an administrator account does not mean that you are running all programs with administrator privileges.
Here's a couple of links to help,
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windowsxp ... word02.htm and
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... 0570716c4d.
Sometimes one has to mess with security settings and other stuff (ownership) to get windows to bend to your will.
Log4OM is a beautiful program with great support and I hope that you can get it to work as you wish. With Terry's help I have no doubt that you will.
