SOTA csv file import

Hi gentlemen
Thanks for an excellent program, I guess others may have already suggested adding a csv file import facility so that SOTA files could be added to the log. I am aware of the file merge facility. Would really like to be able to upload my last 2 years of files, it would take a long time to add them manually. I have tried the free csv to adif converter, not to successfully.
Please consider.
Thanks again

cheers:
Rob

Rob,
If my memory is correct we changed the 'Merge' facility for SOTA to 'Import' . This now adds any QSO's that were not already in the logbook but were present in the CSV download and merges data when the QSO is already present in the logbook.

Have you tried it?

REMINDER - Make a backup first

Utilities/statistics and awards/awards/SOTA - Import SOTA CSV at bottom of window

Hi Terry

Yes I read the instructions and did try the import.
I downloaded one of my single log files from the SOTA site and did the merge as instructed. The program indicated the merge was successful, however when I look into the recent QSO tab there is no additional contacts. Did I do something wrong or am I looking in the wrong place?

Cheers:
Rob

Rob,
This video is a bit out of date because I did it before we changed the merge to an import but it shows roughly the same process

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z77YGhWCtnc

If you still have problems please send my your SOTA download CSV by email so that I can see whats happening ot not as the case may be

Well I never heard anything from Rob so I guess he sorted himself out?

However for the benefit of other SOTA chasers and activators I did a few tests and I can confirm the following

When using the import routine supplied at Log4OM/Utilities/statistics and awards/awards/SOTA - 'Import SOTA CSV' button at bottom of the window - See my video as in my last post.

1. If there is a SOTA QSO in the SOTA csv download that is not present in the Log4OM logbook it will be added to the Log4OM logbook (Imported)

2. If there is a QSO in the SOTA csv download that is already present in the Log4OM logbook the Log4OM QSO will be updated with any updated information that is in the download (Merged)

Thanks Terry
Sorry I have not got back too you before now, been very busy at work out of town so no time to play radio.
Thanks for the reply and I will try again, I think the problem may be my version of excel it shows the .csv file from SOTA with all the same dates, 1/1/15. Definitely not the correct dates of the activation. I'm going to try another version and see if that reads the file correctly.

You should not need to use excel, just download the SOTA CSV and import it into Log4om

The best way to look at a CSV file is with notepad, not excel

Thanks Terry

After watching your video on merge, I now realise I must have entered the SOTA contact in the log prior to performing the merge.
So I guess it's back to my original request, I would really like to be able to import all of my previous SOTA activations from the database in .csv format so saving me time and effort from having to enter the past few years logs. I will look for some way of converting the .csv to adif so I can do this.

Rob

Rob,
Please re read my previous posting

The video is out of date Log4OM now also imports SOTA QSO's

No need to do anything to the SOTA CSV just download it and then import it into Log4OM using the procedure in the video

Any QSO's that are in the SOTA CSV but not in your logbook will be added (Imported) into the Log4OM logbook

Just try it! I can assure you it works I tested it for you earlier this week

Just wanted to check is it a requirement to close Log4OM and restart after a SOTA merge to see the latest CSV merge detail?
