Last week my Harddisk Drive crashed and all my data on the HDD´s different partitons are away ..... Now i have build in a brandnew HDD and reinstalled Windows 10 and all the other hamradio related software ....

All my confiruration files, ADIF files, Backups and the SQlite database i have had stored to OneDrive and when i was back on the new system i found all my data in the OneDrive folder on the internet. So it was pretty easy to setting up Log4OM as it was b4efore the HDD crashes ....

To store backups in the cloud is one of the best ways to save your settings .....

With Win10, OneDrive and Log4OM it´s verry easy:

Store your SQlite database in the OneDrive folder on your PC
In the settings change the path to the SQlite database
In the settings change the path for backups to your OneDrive folder on your PC too

thats all ....

Everytime wehen there are changes in SQLite database or the backup folder in OneDrive it will be synced with the OneDrive folder in the internet .... After a crah you will have no problems to get all back ....

Only a small story how to reinstall after a HDD crah ;) ;)

Yes Jürgen in my opinion its the only way to go!

Also works the same with Dropbox, Googledrive and any other cloud storage facility

Hi Terry,

i know that it works with other cloud storage facility ... My little story should tell the users how easy it ist to save all the data for a reinstall ... Do we have some examples in the helpfile ??? (long time ago that i read it) .... If not it would be nice to describe it step by step in one of the next versions :D :D

Good point, I will add it to the 'Dropbox' section of the user guide

I just implemented this with Google Drive. Works slick. Here are the steps to accomplish this with Google Drive:

1. install the Google Drive app – it small and non-intrusive - https://tools.google.com/dlpage/drive/index.html?hl=en
2. (Optional) If you want to move the Google Drive folder – it installs in User/<you> folder – I moved mine to under the C:\ root… then follow these directions - http://gappstips.com/google-drive/chang ... lt-folder/
3. Create a new folder under the Google Drive folder named Google Drive\Log4OM or similar. Then Copy your <fileName>.sqlite Log4OM database to the Google Drive\Log4OM folder.
4. Open Log4OM and click File/Open Database and navigate to the new Google Drives\Log4OM folder and select the <fileName>.sqlite folder which you moved in step 3 above.

Now you can go online to Google Drive and in a few minutes you will see that your sqlite database is now in the cloud.

You can also drop other important files into that Google Drive folder, or create subfolders, and they will be automatically synched to the cloud, but you will have local access to them with no reduction in response time, as the files are being accessed locally on your hard drive. But any changes to those files will be silently synced in the background. Google give you 15GB of free storage.

And, you can access those files via a browser or Google Drive app from another computer, tablet or smartphone.
