I am changing my computer and O/S from an old XP machine to a new machine that has Win7 Ultimate on it. I have managed to get my complete database of contacts across and working, but thats about it. I cannot find the files to copy across that are for all my other settings such as the changes I made to column headings & widths etxc and all other information that is in Settings 1 and Settings 2.. External Logs etc etc.
Would someone please help this old brain with where, in the help file or otherwise, I might find this info .....
thanks in advance
John

Copy the contents of your C:\............................\AppData\Roaming\LogOM folder to the same folder on the new machine

thanks Terry. Your info gave me a starting point. for what its worth, XP does not have a Roaming folder nor does it have the shorter AppData folder but I did find the LogOM folder under C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\LogOM
I copied all the files and folders to a USB stick, then found the LogOM folder on the new machine (what a job, boy I hate Win7) and eventually managed to copy across all the files & folders, overwriting all that was already there and bingo, Log4OM on the new machine is now identical to that on the old machine.
thanks for the clues Terry.. A question, are there plans to implement some form of easier machine transfer backup & restore for Log4OM ???
regards
John

There is already a system for the backup of your configuration files but not knowing if you had these it was better to suggest this route

in HELP menu -> open configuration folder
This will move you automatically to the correct folder.
Do this in the old and new PC, you will discover both folders

Hopefully Terry or someone can help.
Having just got a new PC (Win 10) have downloaded and installed a new copy of Log4DOM (same version that is on my XP PC 1.25.0.0)
I have copied across my files from the XP directory C:\Documents & Settings\Martin\Application Data\LogOM
and placed them in C:\Users\Martin\AppData\LogOM on the Win10 PC.
Running Log4OM I have no log entries

(
Going through the settings they seem to have been copied across...
When I close Log4OM, it writes a new Log program, but the file size is much smaller than that of the file copied across before starting Log4OM.
Do I need to do something else?

You need to also copy across your whateveryoucalledyourlog.sqlite database file and then on the new machine in Log4OM goto file/Open database and select it

Thanks Terry, my <name>.sqlite file was in an old directory, not in the Log4OM one, so I've move it.

Why not store the file in some sort of 'Cloud' storage like Dropbox or Google drive and then it is not only super safe but you can use the same database on multiple computers and the information will always be synchronised?
