LOG4OM and Windows 10

my name is Dany, EA3NN from Tarragona, Spain.

Im used LOG4OM long time, on WIN7, WIN8pro and WIN10. At WIN7 and WIN8pro no have any problem, but in WIN 10...... :evil: :evil:

Very long time CAT conect, very very long time change transceiver frecuency when click at cluster, very long time all.....

The LOG4OM in my computer super super slow all fuctions, incredible slow, im ungry......

TIMEOUT value change at omnirig, but same slow........

LOG4OM is a perfect logbook for my, but.............WIN 10 is very bad for LOG4OM.

Help........

Hi Danny

I have Log4OM running on a desktop, laptop and tablet all running windows 10 with CAT control and have no issues so I suggest you check your Windoze 10 installation, security settings like Malware, Anti Virus, Firewall and windoze security plus the USB drivers for your CAT interface.

You could also try a clean install of Log4om

I have had running Log4OM under Windows 7 and upgraded to Win 10 last year in August .... No problems at all. Meanwhile i have a fresh and clean installation of Windows 10 running and also no Problems.

As Terry wrote, check your Windows installation. If you have an upgraded Version running try a clean Windows 10 installation ;) ;)

How long is "very long"? It takes 1-3 seconds here until my TRX changes frequency.
Honestly I don't think that Windows 10 is the problem. Here are 2 tests you can do easily:

(1) Make a new, temporary and portable installation of Log4OM in a different directory, on hard disk drive or on a USB stick. Use this new installation only for debugging your CAT connection. If ok: Your old Log4OM installation is faulty. Reinstall Log4OM into a new directory. If not ok: Problem is with the CAT connection, not with Log4OM.

(2) Do you use other applications under Windows 10 using the same CAT connection? If yes, are these showing the problem as well?

I can only add: sometime the delay is due to Omnirig polling rate. Reduce to 100ms to check if it works better...

Check that you have the latest version of the Windows .net framework installed, some earlier versions caused a slow down

I will be "upgrading" my new computer from Win 7 to Win 10 some time today. Is there anything I should be looking out for ??

(Added with an edit) ... well, here I am, four and a half hours later and 9 gigs of data downloaded so far and W10 is still not fully up to date and working correctly. Fortunately a mate offered to let me use his data... (he has a monthly d/l limit of 250 gigs, I have a monthly d/l limit of 7 gigs).. Windows 10 "upgrade" is just a bloody nightmare. Back to my friends next week to chew up some more of his data and try completing this crap.

This could be a polling rate issue.
Can you check the polling rate of your Omnirig window? should be 100ms...

problem solved, omnirig speed 100 ms :D :D
