Winkeyer in Windows 10?

I am using Log4OM version 1.24.0.0 and just built a Winkeyer2 Serial Kit, version 25. The WKdemo program works fine, I can send CW through the keyboard, build macros, and so forth. However, I do not get a Morse Key Icon in Log4OM and if I call up the Winkey in the Radio menu it does not seem to connect. What do I need to do to get that working? is this an issue with Win10?
Incidentally, I tried the full Winkeyer program and it did NOT work. It seems to connect and echo to the screen, but does not key the rig. The author of WinKeyer tells me the original program is no longer supported and I should use the demo program that is working fine.
