Can someone please provide an example of the use of WCF? In my particular configuration, that service is not running, but I have logging information passed from WSJT-X through JTAlertX to Log4OM.

WCF (Windows communication foundation) is the communication between Log4OM and Log4OM Communicator.
It needs to be running for external program connections like PSTRotator and FLDigi etc made by the communicator to be transferred to the main Log4OM program.
So ---------------
Log4OM <----> Log4om Communicator (WCF)
Log4OM Communicator <------------------> PstRotator, FLDigi, StepIR, ADIF Polling Etc
Just make certain it is running and set to auto start if you need to connect external programs to Log4OM
