MySQL db on linux?

So, I know linux isn't supported officially, and that's fine.
What I'm asking about, is if anyone has installed MySQL on linux for the backend, and then run Log4OM on other devices? I already have a small home server running w/ lots of storage and several linux LXC containers. So spinning up another & doing apt-get install mysql is easy. But I know squat about sql. So making it all talk will be educational.
If anyone has any pointers, I'd love it. If I figure stuff out, I'll try to post it here.
