Hello Michel,
I do agree with you, colors would help a lot, in a simple glance we have the information more easily than reading.
"A picture is better than a thousand words" , makes sense! It is not an esthetic questions but a rapid way to achieve some information.
This could be configurable for those collegues that do not like the view with colors.
