In the Latest Spots pane on the right side of the screen, some of the spots are highlighted with a gray bar. That bar doesn't seem to be associated with a specific contact, the bars move around to different spots as they move down the list. Sometimes there are a few spots highlighted, sometimes there are many.

What do the gray highlight bars indicate?

Just alternate line separators to help distinguish one line from another, same as in the recent QSO window and QSO archive manager window

I'm not seeing alternating light and dark lines, it's pretty random. Here are a couple of samples of what I see. Is this what I should be seeing?

That is because you have the highlights set so!, try as below

Thanks, much better now. I had never changed those options since they were showing up in the main cluster display ok. Now that I've edited them, the colors are appearing on the right side also.
