Not a big fan of Omni-Rig. Forget about Hamlib, is that even for real????
Would it be possible to add support for DXLab Commander and/or FLRig?
Thanks.

Try using a VSP with one of the Win4 suits if you have an Elecraft, Yaesu or Icom

The problem, as I see it, is that Omni-Rig is always active, and keeps the port locked. If I use VSP, which I do for other applications, I still need to access the 'actual' port my IC-7300 is configured to use.
The only work around I found so far is to change Omni-Rig to Rig Type None, but this defeats all the 'convenience' of having CAT.
Thanks,

No if you use the Win4 suits that is a complete rig control program which connects directly to your radio and it provides several CAT connections one of which you can use to make the Log4OM/Omnirig connection

OK...not familiar with Win4 Suite. Time for some self-learning.
Thanks and 73.

It's a more sophisticated version of LPPan, three suites
Win4K3
Win4Yaesu
Win4Icom
See our user guide for how to interface it

Um ... er ... I think (considering, not sure) I may disagree with having to purchase a separate application for $50 US just to share a com port or two. I have no other use for Win4xxxSuite which adds a lot of overhead and unnecessary features I do not need. I do not need all those features just to share a com port.
I suppose the only answer is to use applications which are all OmniRig compliant as OmniRig allows for sharing of rig data among multiple FULLY COMPATIBLE applications. For example, Log4OM and SDR-Console and SDR-Uno can all access OmniRig CAT data at once, whereas the popular ACLog cannot, and it must be the only application on the com port, as it is not OmniRig compliant. So, I suppose it all works out fine, PROVIDED one uses omnirig compliant applications, or uses a virtual com port manager to share port data among multiple applications.
N'est ce pas? Thanks for considering my take. K8JHR
