Log4OM

Hi all

I have been trying to set up log4om v2 to read the frequency & mode information from my Flex 6500 radio via the network. I currently have a setup with JTAlert, WSJT-X and log4om v2 talking to a backend MySQL database. I am however unable to display the frequency in the log4om v2 window. It just shows 'offline'. I have set up a CAT port using SmartSDR v3 CAT on port 5004. As an aside I also have a different port set up for WSJT-X on port 5003 which works fine.
When I run Connect->Show CAT Interface I am able to select Hamlib NET rigctl0.3 Beta (old I know) and select the option Network connected radio and then configure the TCP Radio Parameters to the correct IP address and port (5004) in this case. I read elsewhere that from version 2.2 (?) log4om v2 should support direct connection (maybe via hamlib) to the Flex 6000 series. I also read that a version of hamlib is distributed with log4om (not sure if this applies to V2). So my questions are: do I need to install hamlib separately or maybe move a hamlib dll somewhere? (I presume not but I can't find any reference to hamlib running in my task manager); does log4om v4 natively support reading 'CAT' information directly from a Flex radio? (I've written quite a lot of code against the Flex API so I know that this is at least doable fairly easily); finally what I am doing or not doing in order to make this work?
I realise that a lot of folk refer to using omnirig as an interface but I would rather not have to run another program just to provide the functionality especially when it seems that hamlib should do the job.

Why you don´t use Omnirig which can handle multithreading if running as administrator. Log4OM, WSJT-X
and others must also run as administrator to have this functionality. In Omnirig you can setup SmartSDR
from the Transceiver list and all softwares using CAT by one and the same COM port.

By the way, could not test this so i don´t have a newer Flexradio but have used the PowerSDR settings in
Omnirig in the past and all was fine. Meanwhile (V1.19 of Omnirig) also SmartSDR is included.

If you give it a try please don´t use the Omnirig V2 by a HB9 programmer. This version causes errors with
Log4OM. Latest original is V1.19.

Thanks for the heads up about the HB9 version. Although running another program was not my ideal solution I will try Omnirig version 1.19 unless someone tells me that log4om can support Flex 6000 radios natively.

Hamlib is automatically installed with Log4OM see the config/cat control for selection and also our user guide re CAT control

I did eventually get it working using 'Kenwood' for the connection to my Flex 6500.
