I can upload my QSOs perfectly but when trying to download, I get user/ password error, consequently the log isnt showing an update on the received status. EQSL works perfectly.

Maybe your user password for the LotW website containing special characters like !"§$%&/()=?` or so ?
That won´t work. Please check also the logfile that was linked in your docx document.

On my end the LotW download is working perfectly ...

The error file actually tells you that there is a problem with your user name or password

Thanks but it uploads ok so isn't the check the same in both directions?

Upload uses the tqsl program, the download just uses your user name and password, it's two seperate unrelated operations

Even if you can log into the website using that user name and password it does not mean the download will work, because the download does NOT accept special characters in the password as noted by Juergen wheras login on the web does!

Also be aware that it's case sensitive
