Icom IC-7300 and CAT

I have an Icom IC-7300 and connect it to Log4OM version 2.11.0.0 with Omnirig version 1.19. Sometimes maybe four or five time a day, the rig will lose connection with Log4OM. I can usually re-establish contact by unplugging and reinserting the USB cable, clicking Connect-CAT-Start CAT then opening the CAT interface and clicking the OK button. That gets a little old if it happens several times a day.

I suspect the problem is with Omnirig and not Log4OM. I have checked the archives for this problem and there were several entries, but no real solutions. I looked at Hamlib, but the 7300 is not listed so that was a dead end. Also, the problem doesn't seem to follow any particular pattern that I can see. If it happened when I transmitted, I would suspect RF in the cable, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ron, KI4TN

I suspect your usb socket is set to sleep in the power saving settings

Thanks, Terry, that is a reasonable suggestion, but I do not have the box checked to turn off the port to save power. In fact, I don't let the computer itself go into sleep mode throughout the day. I save power by turning it off at night.

Did you check the properties of the usb com port because there are another set of sleep settings there

I am assuming that you have installed the ICOM USB drivers by silicon labs before you connected the radio to the pc?

Thanks for that; I did find the sleep setting turned on there and have turned it off. We will see if it has any effect.

Yes, I have the correct USB driver by silicon labs.

Hopefully that other sleep setting you suggested will help.
