Discovered the latest two back up .json files were corrupted. I went back one more day and the file was fine.
The issue is being caused by corrupted back up .json files. Root cause of the corruption is unknown at this time.
I discovered via google search others are having this same problem. It would be helpful to understand why the corruption is happening.
Going forward I will be sure to check the latest .json file prior to doing any further updates to new versions of the software.
