How awards work ?

Hello
HNY for all of you

I would like to understand how awards work.
I can't seem to figure out what to do :
I take an example among many others the Russia award :

I have for example a QSO carried out with UA0SR on 05/30/2021,

this QSO is validated by LOTW and yet Log4OM displays that this QSO is in status "W" and not 'V "
I do not understand why

I take this opportunity to ask how I can modify the calculation of awards ?

for example (but this is just an example) I would like Log4OM to consider that the award is validated if :
- I have the paper QSL received and sent
OR
- if I have the QSL LOTW received and sent
but also OR
- if I have the eQSL received and sent,

is this possible?
If yes, how ?

Thanks for your help

Hi Dan, HNY for you too.

I'm not an expert but think could help.

Awards depends on the confirmation status of each QSO.
"W" means worked, so if you look at the tab "QSL Info" you surelly see the contact wasn't confirmed yet.

Take a peek on the "Award Management" on the Confirmation label. It seems to only accept CUSTOM or Paper QSL.
So I think ifyou get the confirmation via LOTW the status on the award will be Worked and not Validated.
It depends of the loggic of each Award.

For shure you could "export" a xml file of the Award and touch it. I made several times.
But take care to not overwrite one of the defaults Awards. Because in the next Award update you will loose all the changes made on the default award for sure.

Have a nice day.
Claudio

We can see that the QSO is validated via LOTW

for the moment I don't want to touch the XML file I just want to know if it's a problem with me or if it's a Log4OM problem ?

Thanks again and 73

Hello
For Your Information :

after launching Rescan QSO references (more than 3 hours of calculation here) everything is back to normal

But the computer must be blocked for 3 hours even with a correct configuration with an i5 ; one 512Gb SSD and 8 GB of memory

Hello Dan!

It's great to see you solved the problem.
The rescan function take every single contact and check against the rules of the Award, so it could be very proccesing intense.

Thanks for share with the community your experience.

I hope I am posting this in the most appropriate place. Log4OM is a very powerful bit of database software but by necessity some complexity comes with that power. I have a question regarding award references.

I created a 5 Band Worked All States (5BWAS) award by taking screen shots of the WAS tabs in the Award Management view to try to duplicate them. In hindsight I think it would have been faster to export the WAS award, rename it, import the file and make the necessary changes to create 5BWAS. Unfortunately that wasn't the path I started out on.

In the process of creating my 5BWAS award I may have accidentally changed my WAS award definition. I would like help understanding Award configurations. When I set up the Award configurations for my 5BWAS I used existing Award configurations of WAS-10, WAS-15, WAS-20, WAS-40, WAS-80, WAS-CW, WAS-DIGITAL and WAS-PHONE. Now when I check my WAS Award configurations those Award Definitions are missing (WAS-12, WAS-17 and others not needed for 5BWAS are still present). Both awards tallies seem to display all my contact slots properly.

1. Instead of using existing WAS-10, WAS-15 etc. should I have created new Award configurations named 5BWAS-10, 5BWAS-15 and so forth?

2. Do I need to re-establish the missing Award configurations in my WAS award? Or is this unnecessary (since it is still appears to be working)?

I attached my current WAS and newly-created 5BWAS award XML plus an Excel file showing both side-by-side. I created this so I could troubleshoot by looking for differences. Just FYI, after many tries to get my 5BWAS to show my Alaska and Hawaii contacts I finally read the part of the manual where it said to rescan the award references in the Awards View Maintenance tab. Once I did that my 5BWAS AK and HI awards QSOs displayed properly.

Can you explain what the Awards configurations are used for and how they work? Please also let me know if I need to fix anything in my WAS or other award definitions settings.
