Grid locator

Is such logging (entering Grid locator in Log4OM from JTDX is correct?
Log4OM and GridTraCKER gives a 6-character locator and JTDX a 4-character locator and such is logged in Log4OM.
When I wasn't using GridTracker it was the same situation. Log4OM used a 6 character locator from QRZ.com, and a 4 character JTDX locator was entered for new stations. If the station was previously logged in and I entered the 6-character locator for reconnection, the six-character locator was saved.
Is this the correct situation?
