IC-7610 <-> Winkey

Post by ct1gfq »

Hello All.

I'm working with Log4OM all OK with WSJT-x

Today I try to use and config the winkey, but no success.
I open the Winkey windows, and select th CAT Port, but appears a msg saying "Acess denied".
We I change to the other COM port of IC-7610, doesent connect like "time out".

What I'm doing whrong?

I'm working 100% in CW with DXLog and N1MM, but with Log4OM I'm lost.

Tks in advance.

Carlos,

What port is assigned to your Winkey device?

My K3 (for CAT connection) is Port 3 and my Winkeyer USB device if port 4.

Goes without saying that port numbers can vary so that will be different for each OM's installation.

The WK device is not the CAT connection.

Do you actually have a winkeyer USB interface?

Carlo,

That is perfectly fine. DXLog and/or N1MM work FB. But, what is your keying device?

I use a Winkeyer USB and that is what is supported. Pls look at Page 93 of the current User Guide about setting up to connect to the WK devices.

Carlo,

That is not supported by Log4OM. Sorry.

Just like my Elecraft internal keyer is also not supported.

The User Guide lists what is supported for the WK Interface.

Yes!

For the Icom a Winkeyer USB

You dont need a Winkeyer for Flexradio or Expert Electronics SunSDR :)

I got lost in all the comments, but thought I'd offer my 2 bits and offer to help, since I have an IC-7610, Winkeyer USB, N1MM+, Log4OM working very happily. The cheaper MoRTTY4 works pretty good too.

First I see no use for the Log4OM contest mode. N1MM+ does contesting the best.

The winkeyer works great for FSK RTTY, with the rig in RTTY (not USB/AFSK) mode, using N1MM+ & MMTTY.
For keyboard sending I use a second USB KB attached to the radio. I have not tested the N1MM+ keyboard sending.

The winkeyer works great for CW, along with the rig's keyer and canned messages. Keyboard CW sending with N1MM+.

Configuring Log4OM for N1MM+ or WSJTX is easy and works great. Well, not easy if you screw it up. :)

I haven't found Log4OM to be fast enough for rapid log entries during a contest and I rely on N1MM+.

A very happy camper
