DXCC Most Wanted Rank

Post by K0HB »

On the Cluster (F9) screen I seem to have a glitch in the "RANK" column.

Compared against the list at https://secure.clublog.org/mostwanted.php, most values are reasonably close, but there some notable exceptions.

For example, just now on my screen I see KP2 with a rank of 3, and W stations are ranked 11. Also a 9M6 ranked at 13.

I am not sure how we update the "Ranking" xml that is provided by Clublog? but I believe it could be done with our normal Clublog update facility

Have you updated the Clublog database recently using the Log4om Settings/Clublog Database/Load clublog database function?

Daniele is the only person that can provide a definitive answer to this one.

I just went to Settings and updated the Clublog database as you suggested.

Then I restarted Log4OM, and the unusual rankings persist.

I've attached a screen capture.

Here's another small screen shot.

Note that most rank values are close (but not always exactly) to the values currently displayed at Clublog.org, but the highlighted ones are quite remarkably off the mark.

Thanks, I have found the file at C:\Users\HANS\AppData\Roaming\LogOM\ranking.xml

On examination, the rankings from that file show USA (DXCC 291) at rank 11, as is shown on Log4OM cluster display.

Since this file has a recent date, I assume that it is not static, but is somehow assembled periodically from ClubLog or some other similar source.

Further to the above, I experimented by leaving the application, then renaming "rankng.xml" to "xxranking.xml", then restarting the program.

Log4OM generated a new copy of "ranking.xml" but it contains the same unusual rankings as the previous copy.

it's really strange
on my home pc (not development) i have

<MostWantedRank>
<Emission>UNDEFINED</Emission>
<Dxcc>291</Dxcc>
<Ranking>340</Ranking>
</MostWantedRank>

that means USA is the last in the most wanted...
Data are retrieved from clublog directly, it's really strange that this file is so screwed up...
I've checked the code, there are no special parameters, all rankings are retrieved from the same source, no matter of your call area or everything else

I need to investigate, but it seems it's something that comes from "outside" Log4OM

Hi Daniele,

i checked this out with a test spot and see the same issue here in the latest Beta ..... USA is ranked at 11 instead of 340. See attached picture ;)
