CAT control of TS-890 using IP & HamLib unsuccessful

Post by WD5ACP »

I've had no luck trying to get the CAT interface to work with my 890 using the LAN connection. The USB port works well.
OmniRig does not seem to support LAN and the HamLib lets me type in the IP address but won't connect. I've tried changing the UDP port to 60,000 but no joy. I suspect there's an issue with the Kenwood requiring a user login via IP and password vs. just a direct connection with the USB port.

It's not a show-stopper as I can always manually enter the freq and mode but it would be nice to have the log program CAT work when I'm not using the same PC as the one in the shack (that's got the USB connection).

Anyone know of a work-around or same way to get HamLib to connect? I've not found any documentation on the advanced configuration field (maybe there's a way to enter IP user name and password there?).

Maybe use Hamlib's "Rigctld".
I think you should start it from the command prompt, connect to the rig, and connect with Log4OM's "TCP Connection".
