Log4OM

I would like the ability to setup two different CAT controls for different radios, and have a switch on the main screen to switch between them. For example, I have an Apache Labs ANAN-G2 for HF, and the ICom 9700 for VHF/UHF Satellite work. I like the TCIP CAT connection for the ANAN-G2, especially with the spotting features showing on THETIS. I would also like to setup a CAT connection for my 9700 and be able to switch between them.

I know people are going to say to use OmniRig. I have tried. I can get OmniRig to connect to my 9700 and control it, but I can't get it set up and working to communicate with THETIS to control the ANAN-G2. Therefore, I'm unable to use OmniRig to switch between the two radios. Also, I am not putting OmniRig down because it is a great program, but it is very dated and lacks newer features. It would be nice to have the ability to add a second radio via CAT control with a newer interface and more features.

I agree with Larry. I am in the same position. Have ANAN7000 connected via TCI and that works great. Also have a FTDX9000 and a IC9700. Before I was using the old DX4WIN that had the two radio feature. Just configure RADIO 1 and RADIO 2 then a switch between the two radios with a mouse click. Best would be to be able to configure 3-4 radios.

I use 2 HF radios at the same time, and have solved the logging and CAT-control using to instances of Log4OM at the same time with the log on a MySQL-server. With this setup I have individual setups and radio controls on each instance of Log4OM, TCI to Thetis and Hamlib to the other radio.

You will find instruction for the installation and setup of a MySQL server in the Log4OM user manual, from page 257 onwards.

You dont actuallly need to use MySQL unless your likely to log 2 QSO's at the exact same time

Actually log4om CAT structure is made with a centralized "hub" that take the role to transfer information from the application to the desired CAT engine, and is responsible to start and stop the CAT engine itself and 3 different libraries, published under C# interfaces, that are dynamically loaded in memory following the user needs.
The library load is performed on start and when Log4OM is updating his configuration (closing old/opening new) on program settings change.

The CAT hub is made to deal with a single CAT engine (Omnirig, hamlib or the internal TCI one)
Starting 2 or more CAT engines is actually not in the Log4OM design, altough is not theoretically impossible will require a CAT hub rewrite.

Another possibility could be creating own internal CAT driver (alternative to omnirig and hamlib) with only basic functions and able to open multiple different connections, but it's a whole new world.

I'm actually busy implementing a decent MariaDB support in Log4OM and we will soon release a beta, a rewrite of CAT hub will take some time so i'm closing open issues before start working on rewriting parts of the code. What we can eventually do is being able to run omnirig (2 rigs) + hamlib instance (1 rig) + TCI at the same time, but for someone this could not be enough too...

We're thinking about possible ways

Looking forward to this, I also use an Anan and SUNSDR using TCI, along with some legacy radios using RS232.

I am also looking forward to using my 2 radios (SunSDR & IC7300). I personally don't need it simultaneously, just a switch like for the profile.
