Hello,
I'm new to this forum as I recently got to know about Log4om.
I will try to elaborate on my problem. To control my Yaesu FTDX-10 I use Win4YaesuSuite (latest version).
This software supports the use of virtual comport pairs. In their manual the autor suggest to use Com0Com, a Windows service that runs in the background. The goal is to setup a few pairs of comports where (f.e. pair COM1-COM2) one end (COM1) is used by the Win4YaesuSuite and the other end (COM2) is used by the other 3th party software so that both programs can exchange data.
I've been succesfull with a lot of logging or other software (H.R.Deluxe, Logger32, DX Labs Commander, WSJT-X, Winlink Express) and they all work with the comport (COM2 in this example) without any problem.
I've tried the same approach with Log4om. Unfortunally the software refuses to get CAT control going. The moment I launch the program, the CAT becoms green for just an instant and returns grey. The ONLY way I get it working is when using the fysical port on the radio itself. At that moment I get CAT working in Log4om, but trying to use the comport of the pairs setup by me in Com0Com doesn't work. Also other programs to make virtual comports is no success.
Why does Log4om does not work like this while all my other programs do.
I'm using the latest version of Log4om, running Windows 11 Pro. The computer is mainly dediated to ham software and so far I can't see any other program occupying a comport or interfering with Log4om.
Help is much appriciated. I would greatly start using the software but I don't want to give up Win4YaesuSuite because of the extended features to control my Yaesu FTDX-10. At this moment I'm obligated to keep using Ham Radio Deluxe.
Hope anyone got me on the right track. Thanks.

Log4om won't work with virtual comport
Re: Log4om won't work with virtual comport
Small update.
I started using Log4om with the Hamlib configuration as shown in the G4POP tutorial video on YouTube.
Since I use only one radio this seems logic to me but never had succes (with the virtual comports).
Looking that video again, I tried to install Omnirig (Actually I'm not crazy about that program but since it's integrated in Log4om why not give it a try).
Opening the CAT interface, changed to Omnirig and opening Omnirig I set the parameters like always using the same virtual comport. To my big surprise CAT turned and STAYED green and the frequencie appeared on the CAT SCREEN.
After so many tryouts now this seems to work for the first time. I've made so many attempts.
I still like to know why other methodes did not work and installing Omnirig did the job.
I hope it keeps working... now I can start importing my log and get familiar with the rest of the, I admid, great software. It looks nice and for what I can see it integrates with a lot of other software to.
Any info still much appreciated.

Re: Log4om won't work with virtual comport
That is why I asked the question in my email, Omnirig is first choice and is what I use for normal radios that don't have TCI

Ok Terry,
I'm glad it works now.
Now it's time to get familiar with the interface and all features.

Re: Log4om won't work with virtual comport
hello,
I already use succesfully LOG4OM with CAT to omnirig configured with radio com port.
when omnirig is configured with com0com virtual port, to use win4yaesu suite, and double clicking on a cluster spot in LOG4OM, no changes are made on the radio (freq/mode,...). Commands in WIN4YAESU are succesfully executed by the radio.
Can someone help me correcting the problem
thanks

I also notice that with CAT on com0com the band map in LOG4OM don't reflect cluster spots !
