Yaesu Ftdx- 710 and Log4om2

Hi fellows, new forum user here, but have been running log4om2 for quite some time. Never run ft-8, never cared to, but my pre-retirement career was heavy with computer hardware/software systems integration.
I've been trying to help a fellow ham integrate his ft8 using WSJT with his FTDX-710 into Log40m.
After much trial and error, it appears to be working except for one significant detail, the rig won't un-key after a qso.
This isn't a Log4om issue as such, but could anyone provide any insight into the radio configuration using wsjt?
He had ft8/wsjt working using hamlib. I never could get log40m to connect using hamlib but when we changed the radio to omni rig and got the port interface set correctly, then bingo, connected, ran a qso, fully populated all the fields, but will not unkey the radio after the qso completed.
Any idea why?
