Hi,
I have been off the air due to ill health, but am slowly stepping into the breach again. I have been updating all of my apps and I have noticed that Log4OM will now open a second instance of itself. Previously, I got a dialogue saying that Log4OM was already running and 'OK' just cleared the box. Now I get a box saying that Log4OM is already running and asking if I want to continue (to open another instance), and 'OK' does that.
Is there a reason for this change?
Number of instances

Re: Number of instances
Because some users want to run multiple instances of the program simultaneously

Re: Number of instances
Please note that multiple instances can only work with multiple installations.
E.g. an INSTALLED version and N portable versions in different folders.
The rule is, ever,
MAX 1 instance of the installed application
unlimited (...) instances of portable installations,
1 instance for each executable in a folder.
So it's good to have
c:\log4om_portable_instance1\log4omui.exe running
c:\log4om_portable_instance2\log4omui.exe running
c:\log4om_portable_instance3\log4omui.exe running
but it's NOT correct to have multiple instances running from the same path/executable

But that is what is happening here. I have one install of Log4OM and can use the same icon to open many instances. I get the dialogue "Application is already running. Continue?". If I click "OK" another instance opens. I have *3* instances open at present.IW3HMH wrote:but it's NOT correct to have multiple instances running from the same path/executable

I had never tried that, but just did and I also now have multiple instances open (single install). Interesting !! however, it is not something that I would normally do. When the message "Application is already running. Continue?" appears, would not the normal response be to click 'Cancel' ??

Re: Number of instances
John,
I found this out as when I have a problem with WSJT-X and have to re-start it, I have to close down JTAlert too as it has to start first. I also have JTAlert to start Log4OM. I was used to clicking the left button as in previous versions it would just be an OK after letting me know it was already running. I did not notice the message change in the latest version and started another instance.
At least I have found something, confirmed by you good self (mni tnx), that should not be happening. Naturally, I will be clicking 'cancel' from now on.
