Call lookup in QRZ and HamQTH is not working

Post by ve3nr »

I've installed Log4OM and I like the layout and the features. Everything seems to be working OK except the call lookup using QRZ.com or HamQTH.com. I've spent quite a lot of time going through the guides and the forum but can't make it work.

A friend of mine is using Log4OM as well and the lookup feature works for him. We've compared settings and check boxes and everything seems to be the same.

Maybe I've missed something but don't know where to go from here. Any ideas?

Hi Bert,

If you would like help, I could do a TeamViewer remote session with you to sort it out. You would need to install the free version of TeamViewer if not already on your computer. You are on Eastern time, I am on Pacific. Let me know if you want to proceed. If so you can email me at svtdoug (at) gmail (doot) com with your contact phone and best time.

Are you a subscriber to QRZ and HamQTH?

Hi Terry,

Using the free QRZ and HamQTH. Neither of them work. Strangely enough, a friend of mine is using QRZ.com, no subscription, and it works fine for him. Regardless, HamQTH should work according to what I read in the guide?

Bert and I had a TeamViewer session and figured it out. The log indicated that when a lookup was made to HamQTH.com, there was an error - bad login or password. We made sure they matched, same as his login to the HamQTH website, still would not work. Then i noticed some special characters (%$#&* etc.) in the password, so had Bert change his password (without special characters) on the HamQTH website, then changed it in Log4OM and his lookup now works.

I think this has been discovered before. Somehow, HamQTH allows special characters on its website login, but not in an HTTP get statement from Log4OM.

Thanks Doug for your help and patience spending a lot of your time with the "call look up" problem. Who would think that a valid password logging in to a website wouldn't be accepted by Log4OM? Doug did his magic and I'm now continuing to explore Log4OM's exciting features.

I've been a user of DX4WIN for many years so it'll take some time to get acquainted with all the features in Log4OM. So far I'm very happy with the program and looking forward to using it chasing DX.

As I'm learning more and more about the program, I hope to be able to contribute and support the efforts in future developments of Log4OM.

This issue should be fixed in next release.

Excellent! Thanks Daniele! I was not sure if the issue was on our side or HamQTH's side.
