Recover Config File

Good morning,
Last night when I shut my computer down something went wrong. When I powered it up this morning most of my apps would not run because of missing or corrupt config files. So I tried to recover from backups. I discovered that the log4om files are in a zip archive. I found "config.xml" and extracted it to Log4OM and I saw that it did get written over the bad config file. It had a size of about 48K where as the bad one was only 15K. But when I go to options nothing is there, none of the options are back to what they should be and there is no station information. I don't understand what I might be doing wrong...need some help.

"Assuming you had backups being made its easy to recover your configuration as follows

When a backup is saved there is also a backup made of your Log4OM configuration, its file name starts with the date and time as in the example below

20150921062038_config.xml

This is located in the C:\.........\AppData\roaming\LogOM\backup folder or wherever you had set your backups to be saved to?

Find the latest one of these backup files and edit out the date so that you end up with a file as below

config.xml

Now copy that file to your C:\Users\YOU USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\LogOM folder and let it overwrite the existing file

Open Log4OM and all of your settings should have been restored

If your logbook has not automatically been selected just go to File/open database - navigate to the location of your SQLite database and select it"

Ok...got it restored. I had found that thread and was following the directions...but...I had the logger running at the time so it had already picked up the config file. Then when I closed it was storing the current config, the empty one back over the top of the one that I had copied from the backup....sometimes its hard to teach an old dog!! Anyway all is well again.
