Log4OM and fldigi

Post by G1YBB »

I'm thinking of trying fldigi soon, and I can see from Terry's videos (just checked one out so far) that Log4OM and fldigi will 'talk' to each other, that's good.

I could use some hardware advice to make sure I can do that though.
What would be the best way to connect the radio (FT-897D/FT-857D/FT-817 (non ND)) to the PC and/or a Microsoft Surface pro 3 tablet?

I have found a data cable like this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yaesu-Data-Mo ... iuOXWp0qvQ but also the SignaLink USB Interface, which is considerably more costly.

Modes wise I was thinking of seeing if it would do CW but data wise maybe some of the weak signal modes.
Which would suit my needs the best, bearing in mind I want fldigi to work with Log4OM too?

I swear by the G4ZLP interfaces, far better than the Signalink and enable you to use proper CW keying with Winkeyer and true FSK RTTY
