how to add a cluster to cluster list

Post by w7rjc »

Hi to all,
I have edited a cluster with CC USERnew and called it VE7CC-1. It seems to work ok. It shows only the states I have not worked. I would like to have Log4Om use it as well.
Could some on give me DETAILED instructions how to incorporate his new cluster in Log4OM.

I have tried to add it to the cluster list but wasn't sure what was to be added and had no success at it.

Thanks to all who offer help on this. Oh! Terry do you by chance have video covering this topic. Love your videos ... excellent work!!

Go to C:/users/username/appdata/roaming/logom and open the "cluster" textdokument. Now you can insert links of other clusters. Save the document and restart Log4OM, now you can use the new cluster links. ;) ;)

Easier way:

Start Log4OM and open the HELP menu. Use the line "Open configuration folder" and you can open the "cluster" textdocument. ;) ;)

Thanks Juergen and Terry

Terry
My goal is to show only states not worked on 80m, 40M, 20m and 6M. (perhaps others later)

VE7CC.net:23 is already on the cluster.txt list. I guess what I want to do is edit it and place the edited version on the list
under a new name, if required. I have used CCuser to edit VE7CC and loaded the results as per page 164 an 165 in the Log4om
manual. But CCuser has to be kept running to use it.

I'm hoping for a better way, Is this the only way to accomplish my goal ?

Sorry about my confused mind (old ham learning new experience).

Thanks again to you and Juergen

Ray,
Consider CC user as a tool to set your personal filters on the VE7CC cluster, once set unless you delete or change them they stay set!

Ergo once you have used CC User to set the cluster filters you don't need to leave it running because the filters have been set on the VE7CC cluster.

When you use the VE7CC.Net cluster Log4OM logs you in using your call sign so after the initial load of current spots your filters which are resident on the VE7CC cluster start to take effect, allow some time for fresh spots to appear to see the filter effect.

You can speed up the downloading of cluster spots that relate to your personal filters by sending the string Show/MyDX/50 from within Log4OM either using the command line or including it in the login script, which then pulls down the last 50 spots that correspond to your filters.

e.g.

// use <callsign> command to send your callsign to the server.
<callsign>
<DELAY>
sh/mydx/50

Alternatively you can if you want to constantly keep changing the VE7CC filters leave CC User running and connect Log4OM to the CC User software by the Log4OM cluster line 127.0.0.1:7300 but you have to enable the connection in the VE7CC User program configuration/Ports & Logging program for this to work and have the CC user software running all the time - This is pointless if you want the cluster filters to stay unchanged.

Hi Terry,

Thanks VERY much for your help. I,m still playing with the setup of Ve7cc and log4om. Looks like it will work as you explained.
Still need to get log4om to show individual states ... only shows county( US & CANADA) as of this morning.

I do have a question ... In the process of getting log4om installed and setup I had to import an adif file of my old qso's from lotw.
It seemed to go ok.They show up in the log4om qso window. But, they do not show up on google earth map. I expect I have a setting
wrong . Also will the cluster show states that are in my qso listing even if they have been confirmed.(don't want it to)

Well I intended this to be a thank you note only and I find there is so much I don't know about using and setting up clusters and LOG4OM
that I get carried away. Please accept my many thanks for all you do. Looking forward to LOG4OM 2 !!

Ray,
Google Earth uses the grid locator information of each QSO and LOTW don't record this so you need to update your QSO information using the QSO archive manager in Log4OM
