HF0WFF why South Shetland is. instead of Poland?

Hi all,
I noted that in LOG4OM the following station is mentioned as South Sheltland island instead of Poland:



On their QRZ webpage is also written that they are in Poland: http://qrz.com/db/HF0WFF

Is that an error?

It is because HF0WFF is a SPECIAL CALL sign and as noted numerous times we do not attempt to track these special call signs.

They can be used in a number of different locations and do not have a specified time period of activation.

This call, HF0WFF, has no stated time or length of operation as seen on QRZ.

When the user works calls as such, they must manually enter (change) the country.

Hope this helps explain this to your satisfaction.

OK, I manually changed the country in my log.
And the next spots will be seen as Poland or as South Shetland Island?

Hi there,

The same goes for HF0F, a special-event station in Krakow now active on the bands.
It´s a pity that they are using a prefix that is known to be something completely different...
They could have chosen another number 1-9 or - whatever.

From AC6V prefix list:
HFA-HFZ Poland (Republic of) (Also 3Z, SN-SR) See SP
...... HF Poland (ITU Zone 28 CQ Zone 15)
...... HF0 So Shetland (ITU Zone CQ Zone 13)
...... HF0 Antarctica Special Call : HF0POL - Polish Base , South Shetland - King George Island

I notice that although the Clublog website lists these calls correctly as Call exceptions (Poland) the file that Clublog provide software developers for download via the API continues to show South Shetland.

Had the Clublog download been updated to match their website then Log4OM would have returned Poland on the lookup, I have emailed Michael Wells about this oversight and expect a response in the near future.

Log4OM reads the clublog file.
Assuming it's up-to-date it's the bible for me.

If the file is not updated, as Terry noticed, we can't do anything except asking Clublog to provide a correct file.

just to inform you that after several months I'm facing always the same problem with all the "HF____" stations from Poland.
And I have the impression that I'm not the only one, as I see them spotted very often... like if many OMs are confusing them as south shetland's stations:
