Hi,
I had been running a Windows 10 laptop with Log4OM and Omnirig with an FT-1000d with out any issues.
Recently I changed my laptop from a Dell to a Lenovo , still running Windows 10, but now I cannot get the Omnirig to talk to the FT-1000d. I suspect that Windows 10 on the Lenovo has the serial port in some kind of secure mode that restricts the use of the serial port, maybe due to the Omnirig not being a trusted source? I looked at the event logs for the USB serial port and there was a comment in the log about the port being restricted but that it could be unlocked. Any clue as to what Windows 10 page I can navigate to to remove the restriction? I am not sure why this is a problem now versus the other laptop, maybe this is a slightly different Windows 10 load and some default security feature?

Make sure that you are running both Omnirig and also Log4OM 'As an administrator'

Hi Terry,
I did set both LOG4OM and Omnirig to be run as administrator, but I still get no CAT frequency boxes at the top right, and the CAT status is still red.
I am using a RS-232 to USB convertor, then to a Yaesu interface box to get to the CAT data from the FT-1000D. That has worked for years, but in the off chance, I did reload the drivers for the RS-232 to USB interface and they seem to be functioning, according to the device manager.
I am just confused as to why this is not working, everything seems to be in order, but obviously it isn't.

Re: Windows 10, USB Port and Omnirig
To close this issue out:
I found that the problem I was having was two fold.
1) I had to use the Windows 10 default drivers for the RS-232 to USB convertor and not the stock ones supplied by the manufacturer;
2) Omnirig had to be set to "2" stop bits versus "1" for the Yaesu FT-1000D.
Once this was done, the system was functioning again.

1. Are you using the latest version of Omnirig?
2. Did you install Log4OM and Omnirig with administrator privileges?
3. What interface are you using between the computer and the radio?
4. What other software is running at the same time as Log4OM?
5. Did you try re-installing Log4OM in case you had a bad download and install before?
6. Have you tried disabling any anti-virus, malware and firewall software?

Fixed
The user had altered the default Omnirig settings for his rig, presumably because the program he used to use employed something different!
Once the normal default settings for his radio were selected everything worked fine.
