Recent contacts list to map

Post by wa5vtt »

This is a very basic question for a new Log4om user and a ham with not recent activity. I love how when you double click a station in the cluster it populates entry screen and shows the 2 maps. But I want to easily look at a my recent contact list, right click it or some thing similar and get to the same screen so I can show visitors to the shack, "look you can see the path from me to the station I just worked and we can even see a google map showing his exact location" The only way I can see to to do this memorize the call and manually type it in as if is a a prospective contact. Is there a way to do this more easily I have missed? Even better would be to select the last 5 contacts and have them all show up on the world map.

Keith,

The data for that presentation is taken from your configuration (IE: QTH, etc.) and then linked with the call sign you have entered into what we call the active UI (User Interface).

As you have seen changing the call sign in that field will paint the new image/mapping to the other OMs QTH.

Currently that is the only way such a presentation is available.

Honestly that request (to my knowledge) has not been proffered before. I'll share it with Danielle and the team and sometimes magic can happen, but such a process would likely take some involved programming.

I would continue doing what you can do with Log4OM2 presently and enter in those worked calls one at a time and quickly key in another to show your visitors the mapping span of your communications path.

As you are likely aware we're hard at work resolving bugs that have surfaced as is the case with any major new software deployment.

Thanks for using Log4OM2 and I appreciate your input.

My brother lives not too far from you in Sun City. He retired there back around 1999 and keeps twisting my arm to relocate from Plano, but my XYL and I are pretty set in our retirement up here.

I know that Log4OM is optimized for contest operation and for logging lots of contacts in a hurry, so my query may not fit the need for most users. Maybe I'll meet your brother some day at the Williamson Country ham club! I am a new Flex user and frankly a new Windows user, so installing software and getting each app to cross communicate has been a challenge. But I have WSJT-X talking to Log4OM V2 as of last night! so getting there.

Why do you think that? Log4OM is the center of my ham shack operation but I certainly do not use it for contesting nor do I log a bunch of contest in a hurry.

It is the hub so to speak that I bring everything into. I also used it for statistics but still find myself jumping back to QRZ because I prefer their format all its not 100% accurate because not fully based on LOTW. And of course the cluster doing lookups against your log. Contesting no.

Keith,

Take a look at this APP. If you do some FT8 and such digital it can show paths across the globe.

I've used it with V1 and WSJTx and JTDX, but have not yet tied it into V2 yet. I've read that it syncs up very nicely with the new releases.

It is called: GridTracker https://tagloomis.com/
