This is looking more and more like an Omnirig issue to me. I ran Log4OM V1 and it is showing the same split situation that V2 is showing. The V2 CAT panel is so much more verbose than V1, perhaps I just paid no attention to a problem that has been here all along.
I ran the Omnirig client.exe simulation from the DXLabs site using the FT891.ini file. It shows an error on the split on and split off functions. Something is definitely up with that. I'll need to clear that up as a first step. Ugh. None of this is in my typical wheelhouse, so it is new adventure time for me.
I'll check out the Message Capture suggestion as a place to start.
Thank you both for the assist. Ain't collaboration a beautiful thing? I'll post with any updates.

CAT Frozen on SPLIT for FT-891
Re: CAT Frozen on SPLIT for FT-891
I am pretty sure your Radio signals that weird Split status to the software. GL

So VFO A becomes TX and VFO B RX. That's your current situation right ?

Re: CAT Frozen on SPLIT for FT-891
For my FT-450 the CAT command to read SPLIT status is 'FT;
FT0 = SPLIT OFF
FT1 = SPLIT ON
What's yours ?

FT1 = SPLIT ON

Re: CAT Frozen on SPLIT for FT-891
What an odd response when monitoring the commands channel.
The only detect I saw was an RI response. It varied from RIC1 to RIC0 both in concert with the change between Split "on" and Split "off" as initiated by key presses on the User Programmable Front Panel Keys.

Re: CAT Frozen on SPLIT for FT-891
So now when you leave the CAT Messages open and start Log4OM what output do you see in the CAT Messages ?
Can't find RIC1/0 in the CAT Manual.... its says 'ST; is the command to read Split Status.
ST0=Split OFF
ST1=Split ON

Re: CAT Frozen on SPLIT for FT-891
I agree that the split command is ST; on the 891 with a status of ST0 or ST1.
I don't see any mention of ST on the Commander's output for the COM port. Puzzling.
I have a call into Yaesu to clarify a couple of items. The struggle continues.

Re: CAT Frozen on SPLIT for FT-891
That's an interesting case. I took a detailed look at your FT-891.ini, if you look at the end of the ini file there is a "read status" section. I am not seeing anything related to pull Split information from the radio.
Compare the FT-891 and FT-450 file. The 450 has that command to read Split status in the "read status" section of the ini file.

Re: CAT Frozen on SPLIT for FT-891
Hello:
I am also using an Ft-891 and can't get rid of the Split displaying, even though I am not operating in split mode.
I have the correct .ini file installed. The result is I get a "cross" in the log entry for frequency.
Thanks for any suggestions on fixing this.
