"Video Tutorials"

Post by KD0ZV »

Terry,

Thanks for the videos.

Your video on filtering brings up an issue with Log4om that some might consider a bug. It certainly can be an issue if you do not understand it.

As far as I know in the past V1 logged phone contacts as SSB only. Version 2 now logs as LSB or USB. Am I correct on that?

So when it comes to filters if you use SSB as you did in your video it will not pick up any of your QSOs that are logged in Version 2 as LSB or USB. And inversely if you search for a LSB contact it will miss all those version 1 LSB phone contacts because they are listed as SSB. You basically need to add 3 filters for SSB, USB and LSB if you want to see all your phone contacts. That works but will certainly cause some confusion if you do not understand it.

Also, I find the filter method itself confusing as I feel we should have an apply button at bottom of filter box that will apply and close. Using the X at the top with most windows application means exit and should be used to get out of something without applying the changes.

Thanks again for the videos.

In the ADIF specification the MODE, which is what is listed in the search fields, is SSB

The sub modes are LSB and USB and you can search on those

Even in V1 although we just DISPLAY the sub modes, the Mode that is saved in the database for ADIF rules is SSB

Not sure what you are saying Terry.

I just did a test and using the SSB search it will not find the version 2 USB and LSB contacts.

To see ALL I have to add mode equal SSB, mode equal LSB and Mode equal USB.

The pre-built filter for Modes "PH" seems to confirm you need to search LSB, SSB and USB. Thanks for the heads up.
