Terry,
Subject: No split operations when using Log4OM ver 2 and Omni-Rig with IC-7800. However, single VFO frequency read out works OK. Note: the red "On Air" pop up works when working either single VFO or split.
Spent 1/2 day reading user's manual, forum, and web and testing but no resolution. Also read forum issues related to OmniRig problems a few weeks / months ago but outcomes unknown. Double checked all com port settings, Omni & CAT set up, radio software set up, etc and everything seems ok. Using the IC-7800 settings from Omni rig type. Tested using IC-7800v3 rig type settings but did not work - vfo freq remained static or locked - no changing freq as I QSY'ed radio. Reverted back to 7800 rig type.
Everything worked well for the other radio - IC-7300 ... no problems single or split VFO.
Since the IC-7300 worked OK, I reviewed again the 7800 internal software settings. Everything looked a-ok.
CAT Interface page settings ... only Omnirig selected with Auto start CAT and Invert SSB side (CW) checked. Adjusted main and decimal colors [vfo] ... no other set up made to this page.
If memory serves me correctly, split worked ok on former Windows 7 computer running Log4OM ver 1.
How can I get split to work for the IC-7800?
[[What is in the box: Several weeks ago, I downloaded and installed Log4OM2 version 2.3.0.0 and ran updates. This was installed on a new Dell XPS 8930 running Windows 10 Pro - version 10.0.18363 Build 18363 - 64 bit w/Intel Core i7-9700 CPU @ 3 GHz. No other programs were running except for Mozilla, and very few other programs were installed on the computer at that point except for Microsoft Office.
No other programs integrated with Log4OM2 - stand alone however it catches logging data off QRZ and the cluster was running per normal which should not pose an issue.
Omni-Rig ... ver 1.19.0.282]]
Thanks for your help.

Danny

No Split - OmniRig & IC-7800
Re: No Split - OmniRig & IC-7800
Danny,
You don't comment if you are using V2. 2.4.0.0. You noted 2.3
Be sure you have installed the most current version of Log4OM V2

Firstly please install version 2.4
You must use the Omnirig Rig ini IC-7800v3 otherwise you wont get both VFO's displaying
Have you installed Omnirig and Log4OM V2 to run as an administrator?
What happens in Log4OM when you press the split button on the radio?

Re: No Split - OmniRig & IC-7800
Terry and Nolan,
Thanks for your responses. Addressing Terry's first response and Nolan's comment.
"Firstly please install version 2.4" - My bad - ver 2.4.0.0 is installed.
As I was researching and collecting data to address Terry's points ... it appeared everything pointed back to my IC-7800 radio. Log4OM2 and Omni-Rig are installed properly and Log4OM2 works perfectly with my other radio - IC-7300. Therefore I started focusing on the 7800.
Soooo reviewing the situation - the IC-7800 ini works with Log4OM2 only with the primary VFO - no split. Whereas the IC-7800v3 ini has very little functionality. Of course we know Icom released several 7800 updates over the years. One of those later updates gave the 7800 better interoperability with logging programs ... and from that perhaps the update also gave the ability for Log4OM ver 1& 2 to "see" split operations from transceivers.
Bottom line: I like my original IC-7800 firmware and never updated - on purpose. Therefore, I believe the inability of the 7800 to "operate split" with Log4OM2 is because 1) the basic IC-7800 ini is compatible with many early Icom firmware updates ... and 2) perhaps the IC-7800v3 ini is designed to capture the features of the latest 7800 firmware updates whose upgrades include "seeing" split operations in logging programs - not available until issuance of later radio firmware updates.
Also part of the bottom line is - the other radio - IC-7300 works fine and dandy with Log4OM 1& 2 ... so perhaps the issue of the lack of firmware updates in the older 7800.
Do you agree my no split issue is the result to not updating the 7800 firmware?
Terry -- FYI ... I prepared a great response to your previous points addressing my "no split" issue, but then dumped it as I focused more so on the 7800. As an FYI ... I want to share with you something I learned about using the IC-7800v3 ini on outdated 7800 radio firmware. Here is a cut and paste FYI:
Terry: You must use the Omnirig Rig ini IC-7800v3 otherwise you wont get both VFO's displaying
Whenever I switch to IC-7800v3 - as I said earlier the vfo freq remained static or locked - no changing freq as I QSY'ed the radio. Eventually [a few long seconds] the freq numbers turned to "offL_InE". The odd thing is when the freq is static or when the display turns to offline ... Log4OM2 still QSYs the radio as I click on a station in the cluster. There is a few second delay, but it QSYs the radio even tho Log4OM2 software is "offline." I hear a "click" in the 7800 as it changes to the cluster freq. I can change freqs within the same band or to another band. But still no new freq in the L4OM2 display ... and not split. When using IC-7800v3 there is no red "On Air" pop up as I transmit ... however it is there with ini IC-7800. Also, whenever I return to ini IC-7800 - it reads the current radio-vfo freq - no problem.
I welcome your comments. Have a good day.
Regards,
Danny

Re: No Split - OmniRig & IC-7800
I should not have made the assumption that the 7800 had the latest firmware!
Yes that is exactly the problem the 7800v3 ini file will only work with a radio that has been updated this was known to me but did not occur to me because it was a couple of years ago that this came up.

Re: No Split - OmniRig & IC-7800
Dont' know if is correct to tailgate this post or open a new one ...
I have exactly the same problem and my IC-7800 has the last firmware .
Tried with omnirig v 1.16 rig IC-7800v3 cat button was green but display say offline
Installed Omnirig V 1.19 but had very same results.
LOG4OM is the last version V2.13.0.0
PC is 64bit windows 10
Curious to know if anybody was able to have a double frequency indication with IC-7800.
