QRZ - Don't make the mistake that I did!

Post by G4POP »

Hi All,

I was testing an Alpha release on Friday and found that the locator data was not being filled into the locator field of the 'QSO info (F1)' window so I reported this as an issue to Daniele. While I was away for the weekend I was wondering about this because it had been working before and Daneile was unable to find any issue!

This morning I noticed that a post I had made on the QRZ forum had me marked only as a 'Ham Member' which is a user of QRZ that does not pay for a subscription.

On further investigation I discovered that my QRZ subscription had expired and apparently QRZ do not notify their users that their subscription is about to expire, clearly they don't want to retain their users :(

Once I had renewed my QRZ subscription everything in Log4OM worked as normal including the locator field being completed so a lesson was learned by me

My apologies to Daniele for wasting his time I should have known better

QRZ has never provided notification when your subscription expires.

Maybe Log4Om can warn user if it does not get full data from QRZ.com?

Hmmm .... if you have "Eyes" you will see when you not get full data from QRZ. If not a subscriber you have no Adress and locator in the Log, only the Name.

My LotW Account ends in September 2014. I have to renew before. My problem to have this date in my brain, not a L4O problem if i forget to renew it.

It´s a Logbook Software, not an Calendar to remember you when you have to renew accounts or subsriptions ....
73´s .. Juergen ... ALT-512 SDR (10W) , 50 m random wire at SG-211 autotuner, 2 x Xiegu G90 (20W HF TRX) one as portable Radio. Also TS-790E (40 W) for VHF/UHF with X-50 vertical and Duoband 4-Element LPDA.

QRZ entries without full data would also trigger the warning so the user would be no better informed
