Upgrading the database software from SQL Lite

Post by VE2ESF »

Hello,

Having discovered WSJT-X a few weeks ago, I successfully logged more than 700 logs very rapidly with it. The use of a Professional tool as Log4OM 2 is a Godsend for me.

When I programmed initially Log4OM 2, I chose SQL Lite as the main Database engine for managing my data in Log4OM 2. I recently realized that the 5000 QSO limit will be reached in not a very long time... So I have to think in advance on a plan B.

What are my options if I want to upgrade the database engine ? Any suggestions or recommandation ?

Thank you,

Roger

Roger,

5000 QSO Limit ??

Where did you get that? Maybe from looking at the Grid Default Row View count?

I know of many OMs running well over 250K and then some Q's in their log using the SQLite d/b.

That value is not a cap on how many Q's you can have in V2.

If you look in Configuration / Program Settings you will find a field labeled: GRID default row count. There is a default value in that field and you can change it. The range is noted 100-10,000.

That just is the value for visible rows in V2. It does not reflect any d/b limit.

I'm sure Terry will and can add much more value to what I've noted for you above.

As I noted I'd be interested in seeing where you found something indicating that there is a 5000 QSO limit in Log4OM?

Very glad you are enjoying the program.

There is NO limit to the size of your database you can have 150000 QSO's in it if you wish

The 5000 you see is the number of QSO's being viewed on screen and not a limitation, if you wish you can change the 5000 to 50000 or 500000 by clicking in the field or changing it in program config as mentioned by Nolan.

We only suggested a limited viewing number to keep things up to speed, the more you view the slower will be the time it takes for the window (Grid) to fill (Refresh).

So in a couple of words 'Dont worry about it'

Thank you, this is good news and much less worrisome.

To answer the question of where did I get this information... I wrongly deduced it from the main page, Recent QSO’s tab, lower right corner. It says: Max. 5000.

I thought it was a warning that I should take in account to manage efficiently the database... My error...

Have a nice day !
