"Label definition" -> Adjust QSL message

Post by LB4MI »

Hi,
a question of the Label Definition.
Perhaps the example is a bit on the "extreme" side, with three QSO's and three comments. But it does show the problem perfectly.

The QSL-comments, being more than one line, is centered horizontally automatic, I think. So as picture show, it will overlap other text when more than one line.
Is there a way to set a offset for the QSL message, to lower it? Or better, that the comments are being put underneath the other info?

The picture is not representing the label size, in reality when I print I have space underneath the QSO's for the three comments.
Same issue occures with one QSO, but with long QSO message.

Did you try reducing the font size?

Hi,
well, I have tried several things in the adjustment, so far to no avail. It does become more difficult to read, as it's not that big today either. I print 24 labels in one A4 sheet, with fits perfect to my QSL card.

Perhaps three QSO's with three comments are pushing it. But it would have been perfectly possible if only the comments was appearing underneath eachother.
That is the whole problem actually; That one comment is correctly aligned. Two comments pushes the first one up, second one down. Three comments, and you have what I show. Note that same problem occures if you have a 1 QSO, and a long comment. Then the comment will move upwards until it collides with the QSO text.

Are there any logical reason for why it's set up like this? Perhaps it can be easilly fixed? :geek:

Hi,
Another idea I have mentioned before in other post.

Is it really necessary to have the country name , and also the DXCC code?
This line could be better used don't you agree?

Hi Manuel,
yes, country and dxcc are strongly recommended for QSL handling by the operators that works them at the bureau.
I'll check the placement error issue

This is the new layout i'm preparing.

COMMENT or NOTHING or QSO REFERENCES (just activated) will be printed INLINE
NOTE or QSL MESSAGE or NOTHING will be printed on label bottom

Hi,
thanks for looking into the issue :)
How will that look with several "My Refs."? See example from what seems to be my default ref's from home QTH;

And for the note and comments printing. I normally use these field for writing down some notes from the QSO. Like what we discussed, or what antenna/radio/power the other station was using. Specially interesting if I talk to same person again later. I would suggest specially to not print the "Notes" on the QSL label, as this could be quite a bit of text, and who knows what Log4OM users are using that field for. Perhaps not printing "Comments" either?

However, if we could choose this in the Label Definition, that would be perfect! Then people could choose what to print inline, and/or after QSO. Dependent on their use of the fields.

For me e.g. it would be sufficient with "QSL MESSAGE" and optionally "My Refs." (if not causing a problem when you have several refs) for inline print. (I have IOTA/CQ/ITU hard printed on my QSL card allready).

Hi Helge,
only "references" are reported. Data that can be collectable from QSO data or callsign info are not passed through qsl
In your list DXCC, WAZ, WAC are not passed as they can be retrieved from callsign data.

WALA and IOTA will be written on the QSL, as they are defined as "references" not bounded to QSO data in the log.

Hi again,
Now testing new options, as per todays version of Log4OM v.2.10.0.0 :)

In some instances the relevant reference only is added to QSO (SOTA, IOTA). But as three marked QSO show, the WALA, DXCC, WAZ, WAC, IOTA is also printed. Causing "text overflow" as shown. Any ideas?
