Re: Portable version update
If the latest portable was a 2.9.0.0 you can do so but check that it´s not the folder for the installed one.i.e. can I extract the 2.10.0.0 portable version to the 2.9.0.0 folder ? and maybe then rename it ?
There must be a directory named "Portable" in it. If so you can extract the ZIP to this place and normally
you don´t have to restore anything.
By the way, if you have created a shortcut at the Dektop dont rename this folder to 2.10.0.0 or you have
to crate a new shortcut. Only Thing i do is to name the shortcut to "Log4OM2_DL0AK" and that´s it. If
i updating always into the same folder no problem ....

Re: Portable version update
In the download directory, I have many files, among them one called
Log4OM2-2-9-0-0-portable, and another one called Log4OM2-2-10-0-0-portable. So far, this must be correct.
I have my latest backup on an external drive.
But since this is a "portable" version, Terry, is the destination folder the same one as shown on page 211 of the manual I am sure it is not, but then where ?

Re: Portable version update
Not the download folder man. Where have you unpacked the 2.9.0.0 to. Is the directory at your desktop, have
you saved it into s special directory like "Hamradio Software" or where ever is it stored. We can help in much
things but not in organisation of your PC. You have to know what where is at your PC.
Portable means that there is only a directory which you can store everywhere, maybe a place at your HDD or
on a USB Memory Stick. We can supporting the software but not the PC´s of everybody.

Re: Portable version update
I am not asking anyone to organize my PC (I know I make a lot of mistakes, but these I try to correct myself).
I think it is Log4OM support to say which difference there is between the normal version and the portable version (considering both are installed on my PC) destination of the ...config.json file.
In other words, what is the name of the config .json for a portable version , and where can it be found ?
I cannot search for a file which name I do not know....

Re: Portable version update
The file is named config.json and it will be in a USER directory
The file name is the same in the installed and the portable version
However the backup of that file will be prefixed by a date/time so it needs to be renamed if used to restore, as shown in the user guide
We do not know where you had the portable version so cannot provide a full path, that's why I posted an imaginary path for you to understand

Re: Portable version update
I am very very sorry, but I followed all the instructions, and it still does not work !
In the Log4OM2_2_10_0_0_portable folder (result of the zip extraction), there is an exe, which I think is supposed to launch that application (the portable version)
It does launch a Log4OM, but definitely without any indication of portable in the header.
So now what ?

Re: Portable version update
Why you don´t check out your former "Portable" directories. Elswhere there, inside of Portable, you will find
a directory called "backup". Open it and check that the callsign of your clubstation is in front of each file.
Could be DF5WW_Datestring.ADIF or the same as .json. Search for your Clubcall and find out (Datestring)
which is the latest backup. If you find it do so as Terry described a bit upwards in this thread.

Re: Portable version update
Again, I am very sorry, but as you can see on the attached picture, there is no directory called backup in thte whole Log..._portable folder....
There are more finles which are not sown in there, lower beyond the screen, but no F6EXV callsign anywhere, no backup folder anywhere in here.....
And when I launch the L4ONG.exe in THAT folder, it launches a version of Log4OM which is NOT a portable one....
