Voice keyer - audio does not go to the rtx

Post by IK4OMU »

Hi all.
I set the parameters in the "Audio devices and Voice Keyer" interface and I recorded a message in the "File 1" position.
When I send out the message with the CTRL+F1 keys, my transceiver (FT-1000 MV Field) goes in TX but the audio does not go through the radio while the microphone connected to the radio becomes active and pick-up the room sounds. I disconnected the microphone from the radio but nothing changes.
If I unplug the audio cable jack from the notebook soundcard output socket and press the CTRL+F1 from the laptop speakers I can hear the message I recorded.
The radio settings, hardware, cat-audio interface and wirings are the same that I successfully use with the voice keyers of other software.
Any ideas on my problem?

Hi Maurizio,

Not sure what sound card you are using, could be the PC or, like in my case an external soundcard (USB Interface III from mircroHam). Anyway, it looks like the audio does not get to the mic input of your TRX. I am not sure if the FT1000 is capable of routing both the front mic input and a rear audio input at the same time in the SSB mode (I don't think it can). I never tried this with my FT1000 but it does not work with the FTdx101. You have to make a choice, front or rear so it is not possible to modulate the SSB modulator with the soundcard. (In digi modes, you have to setup the rear audio input so that your sound card is connected to the modulator but your front mic input is of course not in use in this mode).

Maybe a solution is to configure an external audio mixer and route the soundcard output and mic via the audio mixer to the front mic input connector.

Hi Nico,

thanks for your answer.
I am using the interface by S56A and S57NDT project, https://www.va3cr.net/Interfaces/Soundcard.htm that I made some years ago.
As you can see the PC sound card output signal goes to pin #1 of DVS-2 rtx socket.
My sound card is that build-in on the notebook.
This configuration, notebook, sound card, interface and wiring, works fine with other software using voice keyer (such as N1MM+ or QARtest). In those cases when I use SSB macros the FT-1000 switches in TX mode, the audio coming out from sound card towards DVS-2 and transceiver microphone is "override" (it does not active and does not pick-up sounds while software send out the macro) and message goes on-air.
With Log4OM2 when I press the CTRL+F1, the message come out from sound card and the transceiver switches in TX mode but it is like DVS-2 does not work fine. I worked also on CAT parameters value (I am using Omnirig engine) without good results.
